Udupi: Theft of wooden logs - Accused get three years imprisonment

Udupi, Sep 3: The first additional chief magistrate and JMFC court here, after finding the accused guilty of stealing wooden logs, imposed three years jail terms and fines on the accused.

The theft had occurred at midnight on July 15, 2014. In this incident, 11 acacia wooden logs which had been kept by the panchayat near the gram panchayat office at Thenkanidiyoor in the taluk were stolen. A complaint was thereafter filed in Malpe police station, accusing Sudhakar Poojary, Venkatesh S Das and Ramesh Uppar of stealing the logs, transporting them by a tempo and selling them.

After hearing the case, judge of the court, Shyam Prakash, found that the charges were proved. He handed down three years imprisonment to each of the accused and also imposed fine of Rs 10,000.

Public prosecutor Mohini K, had argued the case on behalf of the prosecution.
