Bengaluru: KCA’s E-Khobar to add job opportunities information for community

Media Release

Mangaluru, Sep 2: Kanara Catholic Association (KCA), which has over 1,000 members , has been looking at initiatives to engage its members and help them in Covid times. In this regard, KCA had launched a web based newsletter, the E-Khobar (www.e-khobar.com) which informs members of various events, initiatives, and other relevant information to help members in these difficult times.

The E-Kbobar was launched on August 15, Independence Day 2021 with an interesting quiz that covered questions on independence and the Assumption, which was celebrated on the same day. Two KCA members, Patsel Colaco Sharma and Ivy Menezes were the lucky winners of the quiz. The E-Khobar also connected with members on initiatives conducted, like the flag hoisting on Independence Day. Achievements of members was also included in the E-Khobar as not only do they they give the members a sense of belonging but also highlight the achievements of a small community which is always an important effort that should be known to all. Examples were Ronald Colaco’s doctorate award, the very impressive Shaurya Chakra for Captain Sequeira and the Sena Medal for Major Lobo, all amazing achievements which brought great credit to the community. The E-Khobar also added an obituary section which keeps members deceased relatives information online and will do so for at least a minimum period for information.

The E-Khobar is now launching a job opportunities information section for members, to ensure that job opportunities from member companies, both part time and full time is posted and accessible to the members through the E-Khobar! This is an important feature, as in Covid times, there is a dearth of opportunities and the youth in particular, face greater challenges in accessing validated job opportunities. The first requirement is from a Mangalurean run company that has a multinational businesses around the world and is willing to give the first opportunity to the Mangalurean Catholic community. As stated by KCA president, Hilma Roach, “This is an important service that is a ‘must do’ for any association in these trying times."

The E-Khobar will also run a quiz on its blog on September 8 on the occasion of St Mary’s Feast. The quiz sponsored by Nisha Menezes and Pilgrim Stays will give coupons that can be exchanged for KCA member products. This is yet another way to help members promote their products and services in Covid times. KCA has a number of great home cooks, as well as small entrepreneurs and our quizzes ensure that they gain from the efforts of the community. Their last quiz on Independence Day 2021 was a popular success with over 300 people visiting the E-Khobar. For the KCA, the quizzes also attempt to give members important information on the culture as well as generate interest in E-Khobar to the benefit to all members of not just KCA, but the Mangalurean Catholic community in general.
