Mangaluru, Sep 2: District Congress president Harish Kumar slammed the BJP for politicizing the vaccination programme.

Addressing media here on Thursday September 2, he said, “The Covid vaccination programme is a government programme. The BJP is using the same for political gain which we condemn. MLAs are conducting the vaccination programme as their party event without informing in to the local corporators. There is a certain ward where the vaccination drive was cancelled at the last moment which led to a lot of confusion among public. The vaccination drive has been hijacked for political gain. This is a pandemic that has spread in the country. Why Modi’s picture has to be shown in the certificate of the vaccination? There are other diseases as well where people have been cured. Nearly 3 lac people died due to pandemic, but the government shows less death numbers. Let Modi’s picture appear in their death certificates also so that people will remember Godhra incident yet again.

“In the last two years, only 14% people have been vaccinated in the 18-45 age group, 40% from 45 – 60 years and 57% among 60 years and above. Why there is no supply of vaccines from the government? The vaccination programme should be conducted in health centres and not near the residences of BJP representatives,” he said.

Congress leaders Saahul Hameed, Abbas Ali, Lawrence D’Souza and others were present.
