Mysuru: Gang rape accused robbed couples, sexually exploited girls

Mysuru, Aug 31: The police conducted inquest of the spot where a girl was gang raped at the foot of Chamundi HIll here. Deputy commissioner of police, Pradeep Gunti, led a police team that brought along the accused and conducted the inquest procedure.

The police have since found that the accused used to visit the city for the last three years. They used to hunt for couples roaming around in desolate spots and robbed them. The fact that the city has several such spots served their cause well. The police said that they were involved with over 20 cases of robbery, sexual assault etc and about ten sandalwood smuggling cases. They had robbed ornaments, money, mobile phones etc. They also used to relieve single women found in secluded spots of their valuable possessions.

The police during the questioning, came to know that one of the accused has been harbouring an aversion for ladies as his love advances were spurned thrice. Whenever he got an opportunity, he used to sexually exploit women, it is said. He always kept condoms in his pocket and was habituated to torturing the women, it is learnt.
