Hassan: Man attempts to end life, loses hand

Hassan, Aug 28: A young man wanted to end his life by lying across the railway tracks. However, when the train approached very near, he suddenly developed fear on account of the huge sound it made. He started to run but his left hand got severed by the train.

The incident happened near Hassan railway station on Friday August 27. A person named Ravi from Hubballi had decided to end his life, having been frustrated due to personal reasons. He wanted to offer himself to be crushed under the wheels of the train. On Friday morning, he consumed a heavy dose of liquor and laid himself across the tracks. When the train came very near, he became fearful of its sound and began to run. At that time, his left hand got stuck under the train and got severed.

He was thrown into the nearby bushes and was bleeding heavily. Some locals who saw him called for an ambulance and admitted him into hospital.
