Udupi, Aug 16: The valedictory ceremony of the golden jubilee year of ICYM Udyavar was held on August 14.
Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, bishop, diocese of Udupi, presided over the valedictory function.
A formal felicitation function was organized. Sponsors were honored on the occasion for their generous support in conducting various programmes during the golden jubilee year. Fr Rolwin Aranha, the then assistant parish priest of Udyavar, Fr Richard Coelho, the then parish priest of Udyavar, Fr Stany B Lobo, parish priest, Udyavar, Michael D'Souza, president, golden jubilee committee, were honored for their relentless service and support for ICYM Udyavar.
Steevan Colaco, convener, 50 programmes, read out the report of the golden jubilee year and the programmes conducted by the ICYM Udyavar golden jubilee committee during the year.
In his address to the gathering, Fr Stany B Lobo said, “To commemorate the golden jubilee year, we planned to host 50 programmes. During the initial days of planning, some even discouraged our idea to host 50 programmes. But we believed that our idea was good. All the members of the committee came together and have successfully completed the project. I congratulate everyone for making this happen. The programmes organized by the committee were related to each and every age group of people. President Michael D'Souza worked as a captain. Convener of 50 programmes, Steevan Colaco, has also planned and designed the programmes along with all the committee members," he said.
Golden jubilee year’s permanent project of donating display TVs for the church at a cost of Rs 5 lac were handed over by the ICYM golden jubilee committee.
Fr Henry Fernandes, founder director CYA, remembered the initial days of founding CYA back in 1971.
Fr Charles Menezes, director ICYM Udupi diocese, congratulated the golden jubilee committee for successfully conducting 50 programmes even during the Covid pandemic.
Irene Noronha, deputy tahsildar Udupi, was the chief guests for the programme. In her address, she said, "ICYM golden jubilee unit has done an excellent job by organizing very good programmes. There are very less number of Christians in the administration sections. We should train our youths to take up administrative jobs.”
In his presidential remarks Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, said "I congratulate ICYM Udyavar golden jubilee committee for organizing such a well-planned jubilee year. The jubilee year was a year of celebration for the entire parish. The 21st century belongs to the youth. India belongs to the youth as India has large population of youths. Pope Francis has called the youths to dream big. He says 'Youths never hide your talents, your dreams should never allow you rest peacefully. Accept challenges in your life’. Pope Francis has stressed upon saving the nature for our future generation and to meet this cause we need to protect and cultivate the nature and plants. ICYM Udyavar has produced many youth leaders over the years. The youths who were once members of this organization have now become leaders in various sectors of the nation and even abroad. The 50 programmes organized are the witness for your service. I congratulate you over this wonderful success.”
‘Darpan’, a souvenir of the golden jubilee year was released by Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo. Joylett D'Souza was awarded the prize for suggesting the name for the souvenir.

A thanksgiving Eucharistic celebration was also celebrated to mark the valedictory ceremoney of the golden jubilee. Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo was the main celebrant for the Eucharistic celebrations. Fr Stany B Lobo, Fr Richard Coelho, director, Father Muller Medical College Hospital, Mangaluru, Fr Rolwin Aranha, Fr Xavier Pinto, resident priest Udyavar, Fr Stephen D'Souza, director, Bible commission, Fr Ronson D'Souza, director, ICYM Udupi deanery, Fr Vincent Crasta, director, CESU, Fr Simon, and Fr Henry Fernandes were the concelebrants.
Vishwas Rebimbus spoke about the new 281st Wilfy Nite – ‘Mog Mulyar’ and its release on Localwood OTT platform.
Rosalia Cardoza compered the programme. Dora Aroza proposed vote of thanks.
