There is big potential for clarifying the history of relations between faith communities in early modern and modern India by bringing German-language mission archives - Catholic and Protestant - into the mainstream of sources for researching historians. So let's hope this link with Göttingen University will prove to be a way of enabling Indian scholars with competence in key Indian languages like Kannada to team up with European scholars competent in German and English, empowering both sides to go in for critical forward-looking research on grass-roots social history, and the history of practical idealisms of all kinds.

Theology becomes more contextual and meaningful when it's construction is based on inter-cultural encounters and exchanges. Congratulating both KTC and GAU on their venture into this collaborative MA programme I wish all the success and good luck.
