Pak Opener Hameed Claims Colleagues Fix ‘Almost Every Match’

London, Sep 5 (PTI): Pakistan opener Yasir Hameed has reportedly claimed that his teammates were allegedly involved in fixing “almost every match”, even before the dust is yet to settle over the allegations of spot-fixing against three fellow players during the team’s tour in England.

This is among the new revelations made by British tabloid News of the World, whose disclosures last weekend rocked international cricket over allegations of spot-fixing involving large sums of money.

Hameed also reportedly claimed that he had been asked by a bookmaker to help fix a Test for 100,000 pound, but turned down the money.

After the disclosure, Hameed could face disciplinary proceedings from the International Cricket Council (ICC) for violating its anti-corruption code of conduct which states that it is an offence if a player “fails to disclose to the Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (without undue delay) full details of any approaches … that would amount to a breach of the anti—corruption code“.

Three Pakistan cricketers - Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Asif and Salman Butt - have faced police investigation for allegedly delivering no-balls at pre-determined stages of the recent Lord’s Test at the behest of bookie Mazhar Majeed.

The tabloid adds that it will be revealed how the ICC was now probing a fourth Pakistan touring player over “match-rigging claims”. It is not naming this player for legal reasons.

“The three suspended Pakistan players face a staggering 23 ICC charges between them - each charge runs to six pages... Pakistan Captain Salman Butt was warned five times about his responsibilities to report any irregular contact with outside agencies.”

The tabloid said its print edition will publish the “entire investigation starting in January this year including printing the transcripts of every meeting, conversation, email and text exchange“.

The newspaper published details of the spot-fixing claims last weekend which led Pakistan test captain Salman Butt and bowlers Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir to face police and ICC investigations.

Hameed reportedly told the tabloid: “They’ve been caught. Only the ones that get caught are branded crooks. They were doing it [fixing] in almost every match. God knows what they were up to. Scotland Yard was after them for ages. It makes me angry because I’m playing my best and they are trying to lose.”

The print edition is today expected to carry reports that investigators recovered between 10,000 and 15,000 pounds of marked bank bills from Butt’s hotel room.

Dear cricket lovers, although I have no proof, I am quite sure that this scam is only a tip of the iceberg.

Believe me, what you see is not the fact always. Remember our own cricketers such as Azharuddin and Jadeja who are caught in the act and their case was highlighted. There are several other Indian cricketers who are very famous and now pretend to be the saints. But definitely they too are involved in the match fixing. Now some of them are sitting in the commentary box and talking big ideological talks! It is just impossible that no Indian Cricketers are involved in match/spot fixing.

Unfortunately, we blame those who are caught and feel that others are good cricketers!!

Cricket is one of the worst games. It is made popular by the media and now by the large corporate entities because they can make money out of this game by creating the sensation so that "everyone" will see the match.

Please be rest assured that one day you will come to know that even the boards are involved in match fixing.

Solution: Stop watching cricket and discourage your children watching the cricket.

Can anybody tell me what is not fixed in Pakistan. From Politics to cricket everything is fixed. Govt itself is fixed with Taliban & Al-Queda. Compared to this fixing in cricket is negligible. One more moral from Asif's story is "Never tell secrets to your girlfriend".

Guys...Its just another method of raising funds for the flood victims in Pakistan. Poor Pak Cricketers had no other source to get this money paid to them, other than the bookies getting directly involved. Where as in India it can be paid through various sources like contracts of televeision adds, brand ambassdors... so you find no evidence of bills of exchange in their hotel rooms.THAT MEANS DIMHAG KI BATHI INDIA MEIN JALTHI HAI. Poor Pak Cricketers have plenty of room in their television channels but no adds.. no money.

Pls leave them alone friends, let them enjoy off the field

Its time PAK accepted the scandal and took corrective measures rather than blame PAWAR ( who cannot take care of his own peoblems, forget creating problems for others) and stop supporting their tainted players (nobody deals with Pound 150000 in cash...ooops except terrorists and the like)

It seems to be opener Yasir Hameed very straightforward. One of the clean cricketers in Pak squad.ICC should not ban fixers. They should be arrested so that players will hesitate to do such a shameful act in future.Pakistan gave wonderful cricketers to world like Imran,Akram,Abdul Qadir,Miandad,Saeed Anwar..list will never end. The main accused in spot fixing Mohd Ameer has been called as future Akram by cricket pundits. Now he spoiled his future.Unfortunately ,Pak board is responsible for all these fixing problems. Some of them are involved as per Veena Malik's statement (Asif's girlfriend).Even Legend Imran Khan is having the same opinion.Hope Pak Govt will change this present cricket board and include sensible people and save Pakistan cricket.Without Pakistan, cricket is only bat and ball game and NOT CRICKET !!

    Dear Satish udupi/ dubai,

What about our dear Indian politicians? Don't you think they make 1000's of times more money through bribe / corruption than some small time Pakistani Cricketers? As per your logic, then, is that the reason why you ran off to Dubai, because you are afraid that the rest of the world will ban all relations with India because of massive corruption? Please come back to India, because I think the hot weather in Dubai has fried your brain a little bit, and you cannot think properly...

    Dear Hemanth Mangalore / France,
Your logic too is "il est beaucoup illogical"! From your logic, India too needs to be banned by the ICC because of bribe taking by Mohd. Ahzarhuddin, Manoj Prabhakar, etc. Get real man, India / Pakies etc. all from the same blood, want to make money fast...by hook or by crook! Do you think all our Cricket players and our cricket administrators are saints?

Pakistan came in to existence by "FIXING" between Savarkar's Hindu Mahasaba & Jinna's Muslim league! Savarkar created Hindu phobia in the minds of Muslims which forced them for a seperate nation..now half a century later fixing is manifesting in Pakistans' every phase..its a artificial nation without any credibility..it's alive because China's cheap hardware, America's money..Saudy's ideology..remove these and Pak will vanish from the world map.

VERY INTERSTING NOW PCB IN FIX!! BECAUSE PCB ALWAYS NOT SO SERIOUS ABOUT SPOT OR WHOLE MATCH FIXING.WHENEVER FIXING OF MATCH OF PAK MADE NOISE OR REAL, PCB ONLY DID LIP SERVICE BY SUSPENDING OR MAKING DRAMA OF LIFE BAN AND THEN TAKING BACK THE PLAYERS.PCB HAS TO CONVINCE THE WORLD OF CRICKET IT'S INNOCENCE AND COMMITMENT OF CLEAN CRICKET.ICC'S ACTION IN THIS REGARD FURTHER JUSTIFIED.
