After daughters, wife murdered with 'Thallium' by son-in-law, father approaches court for justise

New Delhi, Jun 27 (IANS): The family members of Divya Arora, who was allegedly murdered by spiking her food with the deadly thallium, a heavy metal, have knocked the door of a Delhi Court to make her mother-in-law Jiya Arora also an accused in the case as her account was used to make the payment for the drugs and she was hand-in-glove with her son in the entire conspiracy.

The family have also urged action against the doctors of the BLK hospital who did not treat Divya's sister Priyanka Sharma. Priyanka also died due to heavy metal poisoning and the family alleged that the doctors mentioned her cause of death as 'rabies, despite the fact that she was not bitten by any dog or any other animal.

According to the application filed by Tanveer Ahmed Mir, advocate of Davinder Kumar Sharma, it has been alleged that Varun and Jiya Arora murdered Davinder's wife Anita Sharma, younger daughter Priyanka Sharma and elder daughter Divya and also attempted to murder him and Divya's home aide Laxmi.

The application has been filed in the court on the basis of the revelations made in the charge sheet filed by the Delhi Police.

In an application to the court, the advocate citing the charge sheet alleged that Sharma's daughter Divya was married to Varun Arora, a resident of Greater Kailash in 2009. He also mentioned that Varun and Divya were blessed with twins -- boy (Rudhransh) and girl (Shivanya) at La-Femme Hospital, G.K. Part II, through IVF in August 2016.

He further stated that his daughter got pregnant in 2020 but after the doctor advised that it could be fatal, she aborted against the wishes of her husband and mother-in-law.

Mir in the application also mentioned that Varun in conspiracy with her mother Jiya, planned to kill Divya and her family members by administering heavy metal Thallium through food.

He further said that Varun ordered thallium from a Haryana-based Pharma Affiliates Analytic & Synthetic Pvt. Ltd. for 10 grams of Thallium Sulphate. "Varun then ordered thallium from the Panchkula-based company by masquerading himself as S.M. Sharma Lords Homeopathy," it said.

"To avoid detection and suspicion, Varun along with his mother Jiya Arora decided that the delivery will be received at a house in Gurugram which was being constructed by him and belonged to his maternal uncle namely Vinod Monga or Saurav Monga and the payment of Rs 22,131 to the Panchkula company was made from the bank account of his mother," Mir alleged.

In the complaint, he also alleged that on January 31, when Divya went to her parents home in Inderpuri area of Delhi, Varun ordered Basa fish from Licious which he prepared himself at his home. He then took it to Inderpuri and served it to all the members of the Sharma family.

"After consuming the fish, the health of Divya's sister Priyanka started deteriorating and she was admitted to Apollo at Moti Nagar for tests and when her pain became unbearable she was admitted at BLK hospital on February 3, 2021 where she was attended by neurologists Dr Atul Prasad and Dr Rahul Handa. They kept on administering her wrong medicines despite the fact that she was having the symptoms of heavy metal poisoning," the application said.

It further said that Priyanka died on February 15. In the death summary, Dr. Atul Prasad and Rahul Handa inscribed the cause of death as Guillain Barre Syndrome. In medical report it was indicated that Priyanka was suffering from 'rabies' despite the fact that she had suffered no dog or animal bite and no such indicators were present in her body when she was admitted to the BLK Hospital or even examined at Apollo prior.

Sharma in his application alleged: "Aforesaid report is absolutely forged and fabricated and is a document made by the doctors with a clear intent to shield the accused and destroy the evidence."

In his application, he also alleged that Varun on February 6 once again ordered for 10 gm of Thallium from the same Panchkula based company and this time the payment was done through his security guard's account in Gurugram. And the third order for the Thallium was placed on March 9 for 5 gm for Rs 13,440 and the payment was made from his mother's bank account.

Sharma then said that after a few days, his wife Anita and he himself fell sick, while his elder daughter Divya also complained of weakness.

Sharma said that his wife Anita and his daughter Divya were admitted in Gangaram Hospital on March 6 and March 4 respectively. Divya had slipped into a coma on March 5.

Sharma further said that on March 13 and 14, doctors informed him that they are going to conduct the hard metal test as the both of them were losing their hair and were having acute pain in their lower limbs.

"To a surprise the result of the hard metal test revealed Thallium Sulphate in very high quantities and the report indicated more than 7,000 for Divya and more than 4,000 for Anita," the application read.

He further stated that his wife died on March 20 in the Gangaram Hospital while his daughter, who was already in coma, died on April 9.

Sharma in his application said that Varun had accepted his role in the conspiracy to kill his daughters Divya and Priyanka, his wife Anjita and attempted to kill him. He also mentioned that the police recovered thallium from his residence in Greater Kailash.

"But on the contrary the police only arrested Varun, while his mother Jiya from whose account payment was made twice for buying Thallium has not been arrested," he said.

He also questioned the role of the doctors of the BLK hospital for preparing alleged forged reports of her daughter Priyanka's death due to 'Guillain Barre Syndrome' and 'rabies'.

The court has fixed the next date of hearing on July 7.
