Benglauru: Terorrist attack on IISc - Suspect acquitted for lack of evidence

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jun 22: On December 28, 2005, terrorists had attacked the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) campus here in which Prof Manish Chandra Puri was killed. Terror suspect Habib Miya was arrested by the central crime branch police relating to this case from Tripura in 2017.

The said attack had left the people of Bengaluru traumatised. After about 12 years, in 2017, the police had arrested terror suspect, Habib Miya, from Tripura. The case has been on for the last 16 years. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) special court, which came to the conclusion that the case suffers from lack of evidence against the terror suspect, has absolved Miya of the charges he was facing. Therefore, Habib Miya, who was in jail from 2017, has been released from jail.

After the death of Manish Chandra Puri, the police faced a huge challenge of arresting the terror suspect. With their incessant efforts, the CCB police succeeded in taking into custody Habib Miya from Tripura in 2017. They had filed a charge sheet in the NIA special court. But in the charge sheet, the police had record the statement of accused No.1, Shabauddin. Other than that, no document, witnesses or evidence had been provided to the court. Because of this, the court felt that the case suffers from lack of evidence. The court ordered for the release of Habib Miya. The police also were asked to release him from jail.

OMG!!!!. Without sufficient evidence you can keep a person in detention/jail for 11 years. Who is paying for his loss of 11 years independence? social life, family life, mental torture???? First the court has to give the verdict of compensation, at the same time ordered for the release.??????. (This has to come from the defence lawyer first) Anyway appreciate the court verdict, one soul is saved ( if he is really innocent)

I bow down to the superlative efficiency of the CCB & NIA and salute their dedication to duty for wasting such a long time and obtaining an acquittal as the output! The accused could have been released 16 years back, at least. Wonder how these investigative agencies manage to catch any culprits.

IISc attach happened in 2005 and arrest was made in 2017! Ample time was given to 'Miya' to become 'Mugdha' from his 'Brothers' at the helm.

It could pose a danger to the country if a suspected terrorist get acquitted of lack of evidences, an act of terrorism not be treated as other IPC section crimes, it is waging against the country and targeting the masses out of extremist ideologies !!! The state govt. & NIA should appeal in the higher courts !!!

Lack of evidence, coz the arrest has been made to innocent not the real ones..... This is not the first such case where innocent gets framed... Any bomb blast be it minor or major, by default Muslim youth are arrested... Why can't it be other organizations from other faith doing such act and police not thinking in such angle???? Have we not seen how Mr. Hemanth Karkere unearthed such organizations? If investigation organizations be unbaised and be truthful in catching real culprits then India will turn peaceful.

The police must arrest the real culprit! Unfortunately some terrorists responsible for bomb blasts are sitting in parliament as law makers (MP)
