Lockdown likely to extend by 1 week in DK, decision to be made on Jun 11: Minister Kota Srinivas

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, Jun 10: District in-charge minister, Kota Srinivas Poojary on Thursday, June 10 talked about the possibility of extension of a lockdown in the state. Speaking on the matter the minister said, "Chief minister BS Yediyurappa has reviewed the Covid-19 situation of eight districts in the state. We have urged the chief minister to provide sufficient vaccines to the district. We also explained how our programme 'Vaidyara Nade Halliya Kade' is effectively operating in the state."

He was speaking to the media after holding a virtual meeting with the CM.

We have sought to provide certain relaxations for industries. CM has accepted it. We have also informed the CM of the ways the district administration is handling the Covid-19 situation.

"It is likely that the lockdown will continue for one more week after June 14. However, a decision on this will be taken tomorrow in a meeting with the MP and MLAs of the district. The chief minister has given the district administration the freedom to make a decision on this matter," he said.

"In the meeting, we will think of providing relaxation to industries and daily wagers after June 14," the minister said.

This lockdown has become a joke , I don't know whom are they fooling. The kind of traffic you see in the mornings in Mangalore city , it seems like everything is possible. No one is checking anything. Necessary things need to be opened. As much as online working should be encouraged but some offices continue to work especially the private. No one questions them. Rules are only for common people. They say positivity rate is 15% in DK, I wonder to what extend its true with the number of deaths being hidden. No one is taking anything seriously. People are least bothered. Why domestic flights and trains are allowed to run still I don't get that logic if you say a lockdown. It seems the saying is true ,"Some are equal, some are more equal." God save us!!!

Can the minister give a break up of how many patients are from Dakishna Kannada and patients from other districts. As the patients of other districts are treated here and due to it the numbers may be increasing and due to it the people are facing hardships.

Disgusting decision making. Why they aren't concerned about people who are the main stakeholders or sufferers due to these politicians who have forgotten what hunger is and what penniless people are going through. We have to blame ourselves for electing these unpad people to lead us and by bowing ourselves for each dictats by them. People should get educated to expose these fake pandemic scare created by to market their vaccines and to profiteering through treatments. Unless people wake up this scamdemic will continue in next year too. I had warned some people who claimed we beat corona in 14 hours one or two weeks by sharing the real picture about real viral infections which will end in December. Again in February I had forewarned about impending lockdowns in May which got postponed only due to farmers agitation and elections in 5 states. Now every word is reality despite getting blamed as conspiracy theorist. Next year expect in April what is started in May this year. Unless our politicians learn a lesson now they will continue this drama forever. Option is freedom or tyranny.

It's really unfortunate to see this selective approach... Few countries have banned and have made travel restrictions but here we are welcoming Airways and railways knowingly there is a chance or spread of infection even after knowing the fact. See I don't have any enmity.. As a responsible citizen, Now at this juncture who is to be blamed.. Whether to blame ourselves or the government... Its like fighting with an imaginary wind with a sword...

yes govt mishandled the corona situation.. mainly central govt... but, what i noticed in mangalore city is general public is not taking it seriously... too many vehicles on road... too much crowd everywhere... whole family coming out for shopping.. only govt cant bring down the corona case..people need to act responsible.. calling it buddivantara nadu is actually laughable now a days..
