Mangaluru: Dubai passengers caught in bind over new corona rules

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Apr 23: The rule that the COVID negative certificate procured from the hospital needs to have the QR code of the hospital put paid to the travel plans of several Dubai-bound passengers on Wednesday April 21 night.

As per the latest rules in Dubai, Indians travelling to that country need to have COVID negative certificate that is not older than 48 hours. The new rule also stipulates that the certificates need to have the QR codes of the hospital concerned. In some hospitals, there was technical problem because of this provision. Some passengers had to even cancel their Dubai visit. The problem arose mainly because many hospitals came to know about this new rule with delay.

Dubai visitors earlier were required to hold a negative certificate that is not older than 72 hours. This new rule was made applicable with effect from April 22. It also has mandated that the certificates issued by recognized hospitals need to have their QR codes.

As per latest updates, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Thursday April 22 announced a ban on the entry of all travellers from India with effect from April 25.

The travel ban will come into effect from 11.59 pm on Saturday April 24, and will be reviewed after 10 days. A further decision will be taken after taking stock of the situation.

The decision to stop Indians from travelling to UAE would not have happened immediately. Being a friendly country UAE, it would have given ample time and notice to the Indian government. But our incompetent politicians are least bothered about what happens to Indian travellers - their concern is only political rallies and capturing seats to power and riches. However, now these same netas will all come out from the shadows to cry false tears to show fake compassion for the misery faced by Indians.
