State Budget has something to cheer for Mangaluru, Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi, Mar 8: The coastal region received some goodies in the state budget that was announced by chief minister B S Yediyurappa on Monday March 8.

The coastal region will have establishment of an advanced biotech innovation center for marine products, value addition center for processing of fishery products and impetus to tourist infrastructure at selected beaches.

Rs 25 crore has been allotted to promote research on yellow leaf disease which is haunting arecanut growers and alternate crops.

One Goshala will be established in each district for the protection of cattle wealth.

Diesel will be distributed at tax free rates in the diesel delivery point itself instead of reimbursement of sales tax on 1.5 lac kilolitre of diesel for mechanised boats.

A grant of Rs 2 crore has been allotted for the technical upgradation 16 fish seedling production centres in the state.

Modern processing and value addition centre will be established for the processing of fishery products at an expenditure of Rs six crore through Karnataka Fisheries Development Corporation.

Fish Sales Units and Matsya Darshinis will be established at an expenditure of Rs 30 crore throughout the state.

Coastal development authority will be reformed as Coastal development board.

Material recovery facility will be developed with minimum 10 tonne capacity in five city corporations at a cost of Rs 11 crore. As many as 89 community mix manure units in 10 city corporations and 59 city municipalities across the state at a cost of Rs 2.50 crore will be developed.

Five waterways of the state between Mangaluru and Panaji will be developed at a total expenditure of Rs 60 crore with the financial assistance of National Waterways Authority of the central government.

'Plastic Park' will be developed at Ganjimath near Mangaluru at a cost of Rs 66 crore.

Advanced Bio-tech Innovation Center for Aqua-Marine will be established in Mangaluru at an estimated expenditure of Rs 6 crore to encourage the production of light food items utilising the bioactive compounds available from fish and sea weed.

Trasi, Maravanthe, Ottinene and other sea beaches will be comprehensively and upgraded to international standard at a cost of Rs 10 crore.

Rs 10 crore grant has been allotted for the development of tourism at Someshwar beach resort at Byndoor taluk of Udupi district.

    All these declarations by BJP are only on paper like Modi's promise of 5 lac core economy, 2 crore jobs, Skill India, Make in India, Demonetization, Distribution of 15 lakhs of black money. Even bhakts commenting here in favour of BJP here are aware that it's a 'Jumla' but at the end of the day they have no other option but to display their loyalty and support to BJP's ideology.

    Sir 10 crore ,20 crore ,66 crores are too less these days ..Hope the plastic park will not be another dumping yard for plastic non bio degradable waste. MR ND Shetty has rightly said ..this is some minority benefit scheme.

    This budget has further consolidated the badra kote of BJP, Mangalore. Minorities are too recipients of funds for development. BJP minority morcha is doing work amongst their communities . Good going Yeddi uncle and team.!
