Riyadh, Oct 29: The Saudi-led coalition fighting Yemen’s Houthi rebels said it destroyed a ballistic missile launched towards Saudi Arabia’s eastern region early on Thursday, as hostilities between the two sides continued.
Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense issued alerts warning of potential danger in Najran, in the kingdom’s southwest, and the Eastern Province. Minutes later, authorities announced that the threat had passed in both areas.

The latest interception comes amid a series of missile attacks and escalating tensions between Saudi Arabia and the Iran-backed Houthi group.
On Saturday, Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense said it had intercepted two ballistic missiles launched towards the Mecca and Medina regions. Missile debris reportedly fell in several locations, including Jeddah, Taif and Rabigh.
The interceptions followed an announcement by the Houthis claiming attacks on Saudi oil facilities and airports, including a Saudi Aramco facility in Yanbu, the Rabigh oil refinery and King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree also claimed that the group had targeted King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Najran airport and an air base in Khamis Mushait.
The latest incident highlights continuing security concerns in Saudi Arabia amid the ongoing confrontation with the Houthis.
