Mangalore: Alva’s College winners at Dist-level Kabaddi Tourney Held in Tokkottu

Mangalore, Nov 26: The Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kasargod district-level open men’s kabaddi tournament was held at Tokkottu near here, recently. Twenty five teams in all participated at the tourney.

Mangalore MLA U T Khader, Beeri Kotekar Chandrashekar Uchil, Prakash Yekkur, president, Amateur Kabaddi Association, Ullal and entrepreneur Morwin were present during the inaugural function.

Shreedevi Education Trust president Sadanand Shetty, K T Suvarna Tokkottu, Chandrahasa Ullal, Rathan Kumar Shetty, general secretary, Dakshina Kannada district Amateur Kabaddi Association and entrepreneur and Balakrishna Temple Kuppala president Ashok Rai were present at the prize distribution ceremony.



Alva’s College, Moodbidri team bagged the first place and were awarded a trophy and Rs 5,555 in cash, while Veeranjaneya Ullal team and Shivaji Friends Circle, Tokkottu team bagged the second and third place with Rs 4,444 and Rs 3,333 of cash awards, respectively. Veera maruti, Manjeshwar team bagged the fourth place and took home Rs 1,111 in cash.

Rohith Marla of Alva’s College was adjudged the best rider, while Adam from the college was recognized as the best catcher. Veeranjaneya Ullal player Ishak was adjudged the best allrounder.

Former national-level kabaddi player Bajpe Robert Francis D’Souza, former junior national level kabaddi player Ganesh Kumble and national level kabaddi referee Suresh Yeyyadi were felicitated on the occasion.

Over 2,000 spectators were present on the occasion. The live country band entertained the crowd. The tourney was jointly conducted by Tokkottu Junction Boys and Dakshina kannada district Amateur Kabaddi Association. Bhagwandas tokkottu was instrumental in organizing complete tournament and programme.
