Mangalore: Chess Prodigy Nihal for World Youth Chess Championship in Turkey


Mangalore, Nov 10: DCS prodigy Nihal Manjunath has been selected by the All India Chess Federation to represent India in the “World Youth Chess Championship 2009 being organized by Turkish Chess Federation under the auspices of the FIDE at Antalya, Turkey from November 10 to November 23.



Nihal will take part in the under-14 boys category. His performance in the national under-13 chess championship held in 2008 at Vellore where he stood third has led his selection for World Youth Championship.

Nihal, a student of std X at Lourdes Central School is the son of Dr Manjunath and Dr Veena Manjunath. Apart from national bronze, he has also won silver medal in Asian School Chess, state under-13 title and has led Lourdes Central School team which won National CBSE Championship among others.
