Bahrain: Konkani Kutam Celebrates Nativity Feast

Bahrain, Sep 21:  “Monti Fest” was celebrated by the members of Konkani Kutam & Karnataka Social Club on 18th September 2009 at Karnataka Social Club premises.  “Monti Fest” depicts  unity &  harmony along with cultural devotional significance.
 
The celebration started at 7.30 p.m. with parish priest of Sacred Heart Church Fr.Thomas Quadros & visiting priest from Mangalore Fr.John Harry D’Souza, Editor of Sevak Monthly blessing the new corn. Children offered flowers to Mother Mary with the mellifluous hymn.
























































 

 
Blessed corn was served to all those who were present.  The convener of Konkani Kutam Richard Moras welcomed the dignitaries & members.  Fr. Thomas Quadros & Fr.John Harry D’Souza highlighted the need to speak in Konkani reflecting our culture.  Max Sequeira, President of Karnataka Social Club delivered the vote of thanks.
 
The entertainment programme consisted of dance, singing & comedy skits.  The dance was choreographed by Dolly Alva & prominent local artists Sydney Correa, Richard Pais, Rony Fernandes along with Sandra, Dolly, Rehna & new entrant Olivia D’Souza participated in the singing.  The comedy skits were written by Manu Bahrain .  The well known local artists Stany D’Souza, Alwyn Peris, Sujay Pinto, George Menezes, Nelson, Janet, Nirmala, Gracy participated in comedy skits. Austin Monteiro & Sydney provided the music.
 
Bertie Rego compered the programme.  Sumptuous dinner was served by Chefs Corner.

    From the photos I get a feeling that this is a well organised and authentic celebration ... Especially I liked the dinner on plantain leaves. Keep up the good spirits!
