Amit Shah will be featured next to Hitler, David Ben-Gurion: Owaisi on CAB

New Delhi, Dec 9: AIMIM chief, Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday slammed the Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his introduction of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB) in Lok Sabha. Owaisi stated that if the Bill is passed, Shah would be featured next to Hitler and David Ben-Gurion.

"I appeal to you (Speaker), save the country and the Home Minister from such a law. Otherwise, like in Nuremberg race laws and Israel's citizenship act, Home Minister's name will be featured with Hitler and David Ben-Gurion," Owaisi said in Lok Sabha.

"Secularism is the basic structure of the constitution of this country... We are opposing this bill because it violates the fundamental rights and is arbitrary in nature," he added.

The AIMIM chief also claimed that CAB violated the SC verdict on Sarbananda Sonowal case.

However, Lok Sabha speaker, Om Birla asked Owaisi to be cautious from using unparliamentary language. Birla asserted that the remark would be even expunged from the record.

Through this bill, Indian citizenship will be provided to the members of Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi and Christian communities, who have come from the three countries to India till December 31, 2014. The bill is aimed to put an end to them being treated as illegal immigrants in the country.
