Mangaluru, Mar 1: After announcing a decision to carve out of new Mulky taluk in Dakshina Kannada district, the state government has announced the creation of Ullal taluk. This taluk will comprise Ullal revenue division of Mangaluru taluk, and Mudipu revenue division in Bantwal taluk.
This new taluk will have all the villages which fall under Mangaluru assembly constituency, which is currently represented by minister, U T Khader, except four villages. This initiative will help Ullal, which has been witnessing phenomenal growth of late, to develop further.

The local bodies which will fall under the new taluk will be Ullal town municipality, Kotekar town panchayat, Talapady, Someshwar, Kinya, Belma, Munnoor, Amblamogaru, Harekala, Pavoor, Manjanady, Konaje and Boliyar villages which are currently under Mangaluru taluk, and Naringana, Balipuni - Kairangala, Murnad, Sajipa Padu, Sajipa Nadu, Ira and Pajeer that are now in Bantwal taluk. Meremajalu - Kodman, Pudu, and Thumbe villages adjacent to national highway 75 which are in Mangaluru assembly constituency will continue to remain with Bantwal taluk.
The creation of Ullal taluk will benefit people from Mudipu revenue division. The headquarters of Mangaluru taluk is expected to be located near Deralakatte and long-pending demands like playground, fire station etc which people in and around Ullal have been demanding, will become a reality.
Minster U T Khader, expressing his elation at the creation of new taluk, noted that Ullal already boasts of a number of facilities and some more need to be developed. He said that this taluk was created on the basis of just a memorandum submitted to the chief minister and no pressure was brought and no protests or other action had been undertaken in pursuance of this demand. He said that creation of the new taluk will help this area to witness further development and better infrastructure.

Fri, Mar 01 2019What about concept of greater mangalore... Gaya bhaad Mein????
Within short time even surathkal will be taluk..... Did places like karkala, puttur, sullia got develop after splitting from mangalore..these new so called taluks have hardly 3 to 4 buildings . For a place to develop it needs high density population ,good infrastructure like roads and footpaths, employment opportunities, service businesses. Etc.. Youth has to either go to Mangalore city or Bengaluru and even abroad for job or any other works.. these smaller towns get emptied up day by day and filled with old age people. To get investment to any place even brand name matters. It's better to get nearby towns under single entity called Mangalore Metropolitan region instead of splitting Mangalore taluk to bits and pieces.
