Mangalore: Conference for School Eco Club Members from Dec 11

Mangalore, Dec 9: The Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation (KUIDFC) and Karnataka Urban Development and Coastal Environment Management Project (KUDCEMP), in association with Pilikula Regional Science Centre Society will organize a two-day eco club members’ conference at Pilikula Nisargadhama from Thursday December 11.

Addressing media persons at the Press Club on Tuesday December 9, J R Lobo, executive director, Pilikula Nisargadhama, said that Prof K M Kaveriappa, vice-chancellor, Mangalore University, will inaugurate the conference at Pilikula amphitheatre.  Dr H C Sharathchandra, chairman, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, will be the chief guest, while MLA Abhayachandra Jain, will preside over the function.

He said that as many as 150 eco clubs have been formed in the high schools of ten project towns of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and North Kanara districts, under the environmental training programme of KUDCEMP. Ten members from each club accompanied by a teacher will participate in the event.

Competitions in drawing, collage-making, listing animals and birds, pick and speak, as well as listing plants and trees, will be held during the conference, added Lobo.
