Bangalore: Unite to Fight Terror - Archbishop Moras

DHNS

Bangalore, Dec 9: Archbishop of Bangalore Bernard Moras on Monday called upon people from all religions to get united and work together against the evils of terror. Condemning the Mumbai terror attacks, he said such untoward incidents usually draw the people together.

He was speaking at the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Karnataka Regional Organization for Social Service (KROSS) organized by Karnataka Region Catholic Bishop Council: Commission for Social Concern & Development here.

To tackle the growing corruption in the State, a training module, "Good Governance" was released by Chittaranjan, Joint Secretary to Chief Minister, on this occasion.

The module describes the use of Right To Information Act and Consumer Protection Act.  Fifty cases handled by consumer organizations active in the coastal Karnataka region and 50 more case studies of successful application of the Right To Information Act in various parts of India have been highlighted in the module.

KROSS, which was launched in 1983, has been rendering service to more than six lakh poor people in about 3,000 villages in Karnataka.  It has launched a programme to alleviate poverty among 2,000 people from BPL families.

Presently it is providing counseling and social support to more than 2700 people living with HIV/AIDS in more than 350 villages in Karnataka

While commending the Archbishop of Bangalore Bernard Moras calling on people of all religions to get united to fight the evils of terror, I feel this unity should not stop , just at fighting terror ,but extent to other sectors as well. Take for example political parities, it’s a union of all religions, Industrial, IT or any public and private sectors, Labour unions, just to name a few, they are all unions of all religions. If we could extend this to religious organizations as well, like joint hosting of social service and charity organisations. Inviting the non Christians to take part in the parish activities. Initially they will appear to be foolish and unrealistic, but with a little bit of give and take from all parties, this is the right time to get rid of this unseen yet very powerful communal thoughts from our minds once and for all.
