Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Dec 4: The application moved by the prosecution for subjecting K V Hamza (42) from Mastikundu, the prime accused in the case pertaining to the murder of the 14-year old housemaid Safiya, to brain mapping and narco analysis tests, will come up before the court here on Thursday December 4 for its decision. DySP K V Santosh from Kannur Crime Branch, who is the investigating officer in the case, has filed an application on the above lines, in the court. The court had earlier reserved its judgment, after the conclusion of arguments and counter-arguments on this application.

Although the court had earlier permitted the policemen to conduct polygraph, brain mapping and narco analysis tests on Hamza and two other accused, his wife Maimoona and Abdulla from Arikkadi Kunnil, the policemen could subject them to only polygraph tests. Experts have advised the department to conduct brain mapping and narco analysis tests too on the prime accused, to get a clearer picture of the case. It is learnt, that the tests done earlier have not helped the policemen in unearthing reasons for the murder.

In the meanwhile, Hamza, whose bail application was turned down thrice by the local court, has approached the high court for bail.
