M'lore: 'Youngsters should Learn from Experiences of Elderly'

Mangalore, Apr 4: Certificates were awarded to the 10the batch of trainees of the in-service geriatric  training programme organized by Vishwas Trust at its office here recently.

The in-service geriatric course was conducted for the first time by Vishwas Trust under the leadership of Dr Olinda Pereira. 

The programme began with a prayer song by the trainees. In-charge of the geriatric course Jacinta Machado welcomed the gathering, followed by sharing of experiences by three trainees.

Lavina Rego introduced the chief guest Prof Ida D'Souza, HOD of MSW department, St Aloysius College. Ida D'Souza awarded the certificates to twenty-five trainees and addressed the awardees, congratulating them for successfully completing their training which will help them to serve the elderly.

She further said that the life experiences and guidance of the senior citizens are very important for youngters who should learn from them and prepare themselves for old age.

Vote of thanks was proposed by secretary Felcy Pinto. It was followed by a cultural programme by the trainees. Director of Vishwas Dr Olinda Pereira, trustees, teachers, well-wishers were present.

The course was sponsored by Help Age India, Bangalore.
