Mangalore: FMMC Organizes HIV/AIDS Training Workshop

Mangalore, Mar 29: Father Muller Medical College Hospital together with the Karnataka State Aids Prevention Society (KSAPS) and the Karnataka Health Promotion Trust (KHPT) hosted the 18th training programme on the recent developments of the treatment of HIV/AIDS.

The two-day workshop which began on Saturday March 29 will conclude on Sunday March 30. Approximately 30 delegates were present.

The workshop was inaugurated by Fr Patrick Rodrigues, director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions with the symbolic lighting of the lamp. Dr Prasanna K S, associate professor, department of community medicine and training coordinator for the workshop welcomed the gathering.  Dr B Sanjeev Rai addressed the gathering on the importance of this workshop. Dr Prashanth Hegde, assistant professor, department of obstetrics and gynecology proposed the vote of thanks.

The training programme was arranged for the benefit of both government and private doctors. This was a Level 2 programme which highlighted the advanced treatment approaches to this dreaded malady. The workshop covered aspects of antiretroviral therapy (ART) in pregnancy and pediatrics. It also focused on patient evaluation, disease manifestations and palliative care where need be.
