Mangalore: Police Crack Three Major Cases of Burglary in One Day

Mangalore, Mar 21: City police managed to crack three major cases of burglary in the city on Wednesday, March 20. They arrested several persons and recovered cash and stolen goods from the culprits.  

Nearly a month ago in a daring burglary at the Gulagabithulu Sharavu Guliga Devasthana near Sharavu in Hampankatta, the lock of the temple door had been broken by thieves, who stole the silver idols, bells, religious items and cash.  

In this connection the Urva police has been successful in arresting three youths here on March 20. The police have recovered all the silver articles of worship worth over Rs. 30,000 from the accused Jayendra (24) from Thokattu, Riyaz (26) from Bunder and Mohammed Niyaz (25) from Kerala. The accused have been produced before the court.  

On March 17, a case of burglary had been registered at the city North police station, wherein some unknown culprits had gained entry into a mobile cum watch repair shop at Baliga Arcade near old bus stand, here. The shop belongs to one Surendra Prabhu M, a resident of Pandeshwara.  

The robbers succeeded in breaking the front door lock of the shop and decamped with 8 mobile phones and 3 Rado wrist watches and Rs 3,300 in cash, totally worth Rs 18,000/.  In this connection the police have been successful in apprehending and arresting Holige Bazaar Dhanraj Chettiar (28), Charanraj (22), Shailesh (19) who have now been produced before the court here.  

Similarly another case of burglary had been registered on March 17 when some unknown culprits had gained entry into the 'Mahalakshimi Toys and Electronics'  shop at central market, belonging to one Parabath Singh a resident of Bibi Alabi road, of the city by breaking the shutter lock and committing theft of emergency lights, tape recorders and other electrical items all worth Rs 9,000/.  

In this connection, the police have managed to arrest Ashraf and his assistant a minor Arif alias Chandu barely 15 years of age, whose speciality is to slip through small gaps in windows of shops. Already one other case has been registered against him. In this case, the police have recovered 100 electronics goods from the duo.
