Mangalore, Mar 12: The students of Colaco School of Nursing staged a protest against the institution on Wednesday, March 12, following the failure of the police to trace the marks cards till Tuesday, March 11 late evening.

The students picketed the institution on Monday, March 10, when they realized that the management had lost the original SSLC and PUC marks cards of 45 students which were submitted at the time of admission to the nursing school. Meanwhile, they offered the ultimatum of 24 hours to return the originals.

The management had alleged that a certain Dr K K Varghese, who was the administrator of the institution for a few years, stole the certificates when he left the institution in May 2007.

On March 11, Kadri police intervened in the matter and called Dr K K Varghese to the police station and conducted a detailed enquiry. However, the police were not able to get the certificates as Dr K K Varghese denied having stolen them.

Mathias Prabhu, managing director of the institution reported to Kadri police station on March 11 and admitted that he was unable to return the original marks cards. Meanwhile, he agreed to provide duplicate marks cards of all the students at his expense. But the students did not consent to his plea as they suspected Dr K K Varghese of having the marks cards in his possession, owing to an internal feud between the management and the latter.
