Gurugram, Dec 3 (IANS): It was a relief for commuters on the expressway as Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki visited Gurugram on Saturday and boom barriers were removed for smooth flow of traffic.

The collection of toll tax was resumed from December 2 midnight.

Solanki's tour was planned between Gurugram and Rewari, around 55 km from the Millienium City. The governor was in Rewari and his programme was also scheduled in Gurugram, officials said.

The Kherki Daula toll plaza's boom barriers were removed. On Saturday morning, a huge traffic jam was seen at the toll plaza but it was soon a relief for the commuters due to Solanki's movement.

S. Raguraman, the CEO of MCEPL, the operator firm of Delhi-Gurugram -- 28.7 Km of expresaway, told IANS 65 swap machines have been kept to assist the commuters.

Raguraman said that the firm is all set to help motorists according to the guidelines issued by the NHAI.

Yashwant Singh, a police official of Kherki Daula police station, told IANS the toll plaza employees and the commuters have been supporting each other.

Singh said that over 50 policemen have been deployed at Kherki Daula toll plaza for smooth movement of traffic.

He said that commuters have been paying toll fee in exchanged notes (Rs 100, 50 and lower notes).

Raguraman said that boom barriers are removed from time to time due to traffic load, though it causes heavy revenue loss to the operating firm.
