Kasargod, Aug 4: A severe flash flood warning has been issued for 11 districts in Kerala, including Kasargod, following incessant heavy rainfall in the region. The disaster management authority has issued a strict vigil alert effective until 8:30 am on August 5.

The continuous downpour has led to a significant rise in water levels across major rivers in the district. The Uppala river has officially crossed the danger level. Additionally, water levels in the rivers flowing through Madhur, Puthige, and Manjeshwar have breached their respective warning marks, raising concerns about potential inundation in low-lying areas.

Holiday for all educational institutions on Aug 5

With heavy rainfall continuing to lash Kasargod district, District Collector Arjun Pandyan has declared a holiday for Wednesday, August 5, for all educational institutions across the district.

According to the official announcement, the holiday will be applicable to anganwadis, madrasas, schools, and all higher educational institutions, including professional colleges, in Kasargod district.

The district administration has, however, made it clear that "there will be no change in the schedule of university examinations, public examinations, and interviews that have already been notified." All such examinations and interviews will be conducted as planned, the notification said.

The holiday has been announced as a precautionary measure as the district continues to experience heavy rainfall.
