Don't use indelible ink in banks: EC to Finance Ministry

New Delhi, Nov 18: The Election Commission on Friday asked the government to stop using indelible ink being applied on the right index finger of those exchanging notes to prevent multiple cash withdrawals.

With by-polls scheduled in five states on Saturday, the election body wrote to the Finance Ministry stating that there will be confusion as indelible ink also marks citizens who have already voted.

Earlier this week, the government announced that indelible ink would be used to mark the right hand to stop repeat money exchangers thronging banks with invalid currency notes.

Details awaited.

November 8, 2016 will go down in the history of modern India as Bad Governance Day.

Alternatively, it can be called DeModitisation Day.

Next time they may also introduce indelible ink for "Sulabh Shauchalaya" services. The crowd will have to queue to use it. There will be no special queues for ladies or senior citizens. People are only allowed to use the bathroom once during the entire day. Their right hand finger will be marked with indelible ink.

First time in the history of the world cash withdrawal and deposits don't need identity proof only indelible ink.

What about the Supreme court and Election commission's ruling in constituencies were election is due in coming days and indelible ink is already marked?

It is a pity that the common man needs to stand in "queue" and get "inked" like a thief to withdraw his hard earned money deposited in the bank.

At the same time, those kaas aadmi's and "linked" get prior information and need not stand in the "queue".

This cash deposit goes into banks. Govt. survives re-capitalisation scare of banks. Banks in turn lend to big fish. Become NPA's in few years. Again banks cry for re-capitalisation.

Only "big fish" will benefit. Will banks spare common man for small NPA's ? But, neither they nor Govt. can't do anything for big corporate NPA's. What a pity !!!

As a Responsible youth of this country i would like to tell that the congress behavior was so disgraceful than any other Opposition party till date and Mr Gulam Ali Azad has crossed all limits...Its so Shameful that for power they are ready to put the country at stake. The Only solution that will make the congress & other Opposition Parties work in the interest of the country is when we create Jobs for all these politicians bcoz wright now they are all jobless and Now with all their black money stored by them for years is of no use, they seem to be shattered & Rattled

As a responsible elderly citizen of this country I find your comment too immature. The ruling party when was in opposition their behavior was still worse. Quite forgetting they are in the ruling side they are continuing their disgraceful behavior by jumping into the well and shouting anti slogans. Huttuguna...........
Suppose congress was the ruling party and carried out the demonetization in the present unorganized manner ,the opposition would have made the situation miserable and lots of citizens would have lost their lives by now as they had done it in the past. The congress supporters are cooperating in the best interest of the country and they have let the leaders to handle the situation in whatever manner they deem fit.Black money held is taken well care of before announcing demonetisation. They are enjoying the sound sleep and the poor man is struggling without cash even to buy the sleeping pill.

Actually either EC or finance ministry should not any kind of ink. That kind of inhuman practice stopped. Once aadhar card is presented then its number should be blocked automatically from using it elsewhere. The same logic should be used during general election as well. I hope someone implements this logic.
