Colombo, Aug 5: Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri arrived in Colombo on Wednesday for a day-long official visit aimed at further strengthening the longstanding partnership between India and Sri Lanka.

Misri was received at the airport by Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Santosh Jha and senior officials of the Sri Lankan Foreign Ministry.

During the visit, the Foreign Secretary is scheduled to hold meetings with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya and Foreign Affairs Minister Vijitha Herath, besides other senior officials.

In a statement, the Indian High Commission in Colombo said the visit builds on the regular high-level exchanges between the two neighbouring countries and is expected to reinforce close bilateral ties while maintaining momentum on key areas of cooperation.

The visit comes as India and Sri Lanka continue to deepen engagement across sectors, including economic cooperation, connectivity, development partnerships and regional security.
