Student shoots school director in a fit of rage

Ratlam (MP), Nov 5 (PTI): A 15-year-old student today allegedly shot at his school director at Jaora town here leaving him seriously injured, police said. "The student of class IX fired and injured Milestone Academy School director Amit Jain, who has been rushed to Indore in a critical state," Jaora area City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Dipak Shukla said.

After committing the crime, the boy fled from the school. The student came to school wearing plain clothes. His teacher asked him to go home and put on the uniform and return, the CSP said.

When the minor was wearing the uniform, a phone call from the school informed his parents about his behaviour. His family was also told that the boy was absent on Thursday and Friday, after which he was chided, Shukla added.

Enraged, the minor returned to school with a pistol and shot Jain in the stomach in his chamber, the CSP added. Jain was taken to a civic hospital from where he has been rushed to Indore in a critical condition.

Very tragic indeed. My sympathies to the bereaved family of the school director. Sounds so much like the situation in parts of Canada and the US. So many questions arise by this senseless shooting. How did a boy of 15 get the gun? Who did it belong to, and why was he given access? These questions must be probed by the police authorities and those who facilitated the murder must themselves be charged as accomplices.

Now our legal system comes in between and says he is juvenile and will not dealt with seriousness.

In many cases, person below 18 age limit commits the crime and not punished for various reason.

The question is that, crime happened, may be rape or murder and someone is victim of this. Who is responsible for this? Is it our legal system to punished and penalized or the parents who failed guide their children or the law will say parents are not to be punished for their children's act as is the usual case. If I take up this particular case, Child is minor, but how he got the pistol? Isn't that the parents who own this pistol, therefore, they are responsible and accountable for this crime besides the student. Also, in present days, our education system is also responsible for this crime, because, teachers are not supposed to scold the students or correct the behaviour of student, and if so, student knock the door of court, and also parents encourage support their child's acts, thereby encouraging him to do more crimes.

In many cases school management is also responsible in some private schools, where management is trying neutralize the situation and make the teacher ask for apology with the parents of student to avoid any bad reputation to the institution. Because school management always looking at heavy funds from wealthy parents, thus, they don't want any conflict with them with the fear that, they may lose their income.
