Bangalore, Nov 10: Expressing happiness over his appointment as the test captain, Anil Kumble said he had been looking forward to lead the country for a long time.

“I had to wait for a long time. But I think it's better late than never. I am looking forward to the challenge,” the veteran leg-spinner told reporters here on Friday on being handed the test captaincy for the Pakistan series.

“It's good to be shown faith and given the responsibility. I am sure I will get all the support from all my team-mates.”

Kumble said he was not surprised by his selection as captain as there was speculation in the media that his name was doing the rounds.

He said the first test match against Pakistan “is going to be critical,” but he would take “one step at a time.”

Yes , indeed Anil Kumble had to wait for a long long time to get the Test Captaincy. This despite having been the Vice Captain several years back. His commitment on the field has been always been 200 % . But the forth coming Test series are going to be tough . Test cricket is all about Team spirit and every one needs to contribute . A captain is really as good as his team , they say . We do hope every player will chip in and Jumbo and his team will win hands down against Pakistan.
