Pakistan, Russia ink MoU for construction of gas pipeline


Islamabad, Oct 16 (IANS): Pakistan and Russia have signed an agreement for construction of a gas pipeline from Lahore to Karachi.

Pakistan Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Islamabad on Friday.

The 1,100 km pipeline with a capacity of 12.4 bcm per annum will connect liquefied natural gas terminals of Karachi with those of Lahore, Radio Pakistan reported.

Russia will invest $2 billion in the project, whose first phase will be completed by December 2017.
