Panaji, Aug 19: North Goa collector Ankit Yadav on Monday chaired a district-level committee (DLC) meeting to screen 43 claims filed under the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act. The claims were submitted by villagers from Kopardem, Malpan and Satre in Sattari taluka.

Of the total claims, 29 were approved, while three were sent back to the sub-divisional level committee for fresh verification. Eleven applications were rejected on grounds of duplication.

The collector has been holding weekly meetings to fast-track the process, following chief minister Pramod Sawant’s directive to clear pending claims at the earliest.
