2003 Dharmasthala medical student Ananya Bhat missing case handed over to SIT

Beltangady, Aug 20: The case of a medical student, Ananya Bhat, who went missing from the premises of Dharmasthala Temple in 2003, has now been handed over to a Special Investigation Team (SIT) for further probe.

According to a press release, the missing complaint was lodged by the girl’s mother at Dharmasthala police station on July 15, 2025, and was registered under case number 175/PTN/DPS/2025.

Based on the complaint, the Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG & IGP) issued orders on August 19, 2025, transferring the case to the SIT for detailed investigation.
