Mangalore: Eric Ozario Conferred with 'Konkani Kutam Bahrain Award 2007'

Mangalore, Jul 20: The prestigious 'Konkani Kutam Bahrain Award 2007' was conferred on Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president, Konkani activist, singer-musicwriter, organizer Eric Ozario at a gala function held on Sandesha lawns on Friday July 20 evening.

The programme began with an invocation dance.  Fr Muller Medical College Hospital administrator Fr Denis D'Sa was the chief guest on the occasion.  Mandd Sobhann president Louis J Pinto and Dakshina Kannada Congress Committee vice-president Ivan D'Souza were the guests of honour.

Konkani Kutam convener Richard Moras delivered the introductory address and welcomed the guests with flowers while Roy Castelino, president of Konkani Prachar Sanchalan introduced the awardee to the gathering and read out the citation.  Fr Denis D'Sa presented the award to Eric Ozario.

Expressing his gratitude after receiving the award, Eric Ozario said that the award had come like water to a thirsty wayfarer.  "I am grateful to Konkani Kutam Bahrain for this beautiful gesture of theirs.  I have waged many lone battles for Konkani.  But Konkani Kutam has come forward today to reward me and wish me well.  I will always be grateful to you all dear and near ones," he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Ivan D'Souza complimented Eric Ozario and wished him and his family all that is best in the coming years.










Addressing the gathering Fr Denis D'Sa said that he felt honoured to present this award to Eric Ozario. "My rapport with the literary field and writers began with my stint in Sandesha.  From then it has been a great and beautiful journey together. I have had the privilege of working hand in hand with Eric on many projects. I salute Konkani Kutam Bahrain for choosing the right person for this prestigious award," he added.

Joel D'Sa proposed the vote of thanks while Titus Noronha compered the programme.  Later Mandd Sobhann troupe enthralled the gathering with their musical programme.
