Mangalore, Jun 8: Beware of using mobile phones when you are driving a vehicle.

The Regional Traffic Officer (RTO) has decided to levy heavy penalty on those using mobile phones while driving vehicles in the city.

Accidents have taken place frequently in the city as a result of use of mobile phones while driving. The mishaps could be minor or major, but the consequences have been severe. This has led the authorities to take strict action.

Violation can invite suspension of the driving licence up to a year's time and penal action against the owner under the Motor Vehicles Act also will be taken in the coming days, said RTO Ramesh, in a press statement.
