Udupi, Jun 8: The officials chopped down trees for footpaths, but it seems the citizens would have preferred trees.

The officials have already demolished about 10 to 12 trees aged about 100 years. Hence, the passengers here are facing the heat now that they have been exposed to direct sunlight without the protective shade of trees.

Earlier, the passengers who would wait here for the buses going towards Mangalore, Kundapur, Kollur etc were lucky to have natural shade under the trees, but now, one can’t get this facility. On the other hand, the place also lacks a bus stand.

Hence, the passengers here now use umbrellas to survive from the scorching heat. The tiny shops here also have been demolished by the authorities. Hence, one can not even get a cool drink to refresh oneself.
