Mangalore, Jun 7:  Raghaveshwara Bharati Swamiji of the Ramachandrapur Math of Hosanagar said that the district should be made in to a ‘Go Suraksha District’ and the cattle should be reared cautiously.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the Gosamrakshana Kendra office and cattle products outlet at the Jagannatha Joshi Saudha here on Wednesday June 6.

He further said that the cattle are the life of the country and if the cattle are extinct then the nation will become lifeless.

Urging the government to prioritize the issue of protection of cattle, he added that the cattle slaughterers must be punished and one should encourage those who are against the slaughtering of cattle.

A website, www.gosuraksha.in was also launched during the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof M B Puranik said that a law should be imposed in order to punish those resorting to slaughtering of cattle.

Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat presided over the programme. Dr Vaman Kamath was felicitated for letting the office to the Kendra.
