Mangalore: 'Sanmarga' Editor Ibrahim Saeed Passes away

Mangalore, May 27:  Ibrahim Saeed (62), editor of ‘Sanmarga’ ('The Righteous Path') Kannada weekly died on in the early hours of Sunday May 27. He was suffering from illness during the past six months.

He was recognized in the society not only as editor of ‘Sanmarga’ for 30 years, but as a thinker and a scholar in the city. He has also written 22 books and translated 25 books and thus contributed significantly to the field of literature.

He has also served as the head of Shanti Publications and president (amir) of Karnataka-Goa unit of Jamaa't-e-Islami Hind for the last 4 for years. Besides, he was a fluent orator in Kannada, Urdu and other languages.

He was also recognized as a columnist in Prajavani Kannada daily, writing under the nom de plume  ‘Sanmargi.’
He is survived with wife, 4 sons and 4 daughters.

Chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, former chief minister Dharam Singh, state opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge, former union minister C K Jaffer Sharief and many others have expressed condolence on the death of Ibrahim Saeed.

Some of them visited Ibrahim's residence and paid their last respects.
