New Delhi, May 4: The Indian boys failed to win a set in three matches against Japan in the league stage and the team crashed out of the race for the four qualifiers spots for the World Group competition in the Asia-Oceania Junior Davis Cup under-16 boys tennis tournament at Bangkok.

After rain had washed out most part of the second day's play, India like all other teams had to negotiate two rounds on Wednesday.

India, which bounced back from losing the first singles to beat China 2-1, could not tackle Japan with similar competence, though Yuki Bhambri did well to make a fight of the second singles rubber.

Though China, Japan and India had finished with two wins each in pool `B', India failed to make it as it had won lesser matches than the other two. Japan topped the table by winning seven matches and China was second with six. India won only five of the nine matches.
