Former Brazil striker closer to Mexico move

Rio de Janeiro, Dec 29 (IANS): Former Brazil striker Rafael Sobis has arrived in Mexico to finalise details of his move to local club Tigres.

The 29-year-old met with Tigres officials in the northern city of Monterrey Sunday "to look over his contract", Tigres said on Twitter, reports Xinhua.

Sobis was released by Rio de Janeiro giants Fluminense earlier this month after scoring just three goals in Brazil's top flight this year. He is expected to join Tigres on a three-year deal.

The former Real Betis player signed with Fluminense in 2011 after unsuccessful spells at Al Jazira and Internacional.

He has been capped eight times by Brazil and was a member of the country's 2008 Olympic team that won the bronze medal in Beijing.
