Mangalore, Nov 30: An all-India rally organized by the Students' Federation of India (SFI) will arrive in the city on Saturday December 2, said SFI honorary president Abdul Khader Kukkadi while addressing a press meet here on Wednesday November 29.

The rally will be welcomed at Kottara Chowki here by various writers, teachers, students and others. A meeting will be held in front of the DC’s office in which All-India committee general secretary KK Ragesh and SFI state committee president Rajashekar Murthy will address the gathering.

Students Federation of India aims to urge the government to make changes in the education system and also in text books which should have creative, scientific and social thought which will help in the overall growth of the child, Kukkadi said.

He further said that the education system has been commercialized by the privatization of the education institutions and alleged that the government was not doing enough on the educational arena. The rally is being held to make the government aware of this dilemma and to create awareness among the people of the nation.

The rally was inaugurated on Saturday November 4 in Bangalore and has been to various places such as Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Chattisgarh, Maharastra and Goa.

The demands include establishment of a single national educational board, reservation in every educational institution, direct international capital for education intuitions, formation of a committee to check increase of fee structure in private institutions and others.

DYFI district president Muneer Katipalla, SFI general secretary Jeevan Kuttar, SFI district president Prashanth Achar and others were also present in the press meet.
