Mangalore, Nov 28: A bus driver who had been admitted to a private hospital here after being knocked down by a Santro car at Talapdi on Sunday November 26 night, succumbed to injuries in the hospital on Monday November 27.

Keshav (42), a resident of Machampadi Chowki was a driver in route number 42 bus.  On Sunday night, he was going to his house riding his mobike, when a Santro car speeding towards Kasargod knocked him down.  As a result he sustained serious injuries and was immediately admitted to a private hospital in the city.

However, he succumbed to the fatal injuries on Monday without responding to treatment.  It is said that he had not only sustained multiple fractures but also had sustained critical injuries in his head.

On the other hand, the car driver had not stopped on the spot after the accident and had driven ahead.  But the car was chased and seized near Hosangadi Check post by Manjeshwar police.  The police reports said that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of accident and hence police have registered two cases against him.  The first case is with regard to fatal accident and the second with regards to driving under the influence of alcohol.
