Brazilian team in Subroto Cup semis

New Delhi, Oct 16 (IANS): Brazilian team Colegio Estadul Santo Antonio scored a hard fought 1-0 win over Lok Smriti High School, Nepal, in the Under-17 boys quarter-final of the 55th Subroto Cup International Football Tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here Thursday.

The Brazilian team will meet Indonesia's Ragunan Sports School in the semi-final Oct 18. The winner of the match will take on MSP School, Kerala, in the final Oct 20.

The South American school team employed a fast paced game but the Nepal team's backline thwarted their opponents for a long time. But at the stroke of half-time Jose Ricardo half-volleyed an aerial ball off a low cross to break the Nepal team's resistance.

Nepal had to build up meaningful attacks to equalise but found their defence busy for the better part of the second session and should be thankful to their goalkeeper Arpan Karki for limiting the damage and keeping the margin to a bare minimum.
