Indian boxer Satish settles for Asiad bronze

Incheon, Oct 2 (IANS): Indian boxer Satish Kumar had to settle for the bronze medal after losing the men's 91 kg semi-final to World No.2 Ivan Dychko of Kazakhstan at the 17th Asian Games here Thursday.

Up against a much taller opponent, the 25-year-old Satish lost 0-3 in an unanimous judges decision as the Indian fell behind in every round at the Seonhak Gymnasium.

Because of Dychko's better reach, World No.6 Satish had to maintain a safe distance and yet find a way to penetrate the Olympic bronze medallist's defence and it was an uphill task for Satish from the outset.

Though the Indian fought valiantly but he lost all three rounds with scores of 27-30, 27-30 and 26-30 to the World No.2.

Later in the day, Vikas Krishan will meet Kazakhstan's Zhanibek Alimkhanuly for a place in the men's 75 kg final.
