Mangalore, Sep 9: The inauguration of the Academic year 2006-2007 for the 5th batch of students was held on 1st September, 2006 at St. Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor, Mangalore. Rev. Dr. Lawrence C. D’Souza, Dean of City Varado Parishes and Former Administrator of Fr. Muller’s Medical College presided over the function.

Ricahrd William Moras, Senior Vice President (Materials), Conceba Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Mumbai and an expert in Materials Management was the Chief Guest of the function. He stressed on the need for passion, courage and excellence among the student community. Meritorious incoming students Nelson Jerome D’Souza, Sandeep Crasta, Chiphenkar Shilpa Aravind and Errol Vas Prabhu were honoured by him.

The Guest of Honour G. Giridhar Prabhu, Proprietor of Achal Industries and Ex-President of Canara Chamber of Commerce and Industry appreciated the fast development of the College in a short span of 4 yers.

Fr. Valerian D’Souza, Director of the College welcomed the gathering. Dr. R.K. Yaji, Principal of the College spoke on the various facilities provided by the college. He requested the parents to interact with the staff often, to keep a track of their children’s progress. Fr. Henry Mascarenhas, Asst. Director of the College proposed vote of thanks.
