Brazil’s communications director banned for one game


Rio de Janeiro, July 1 (IANS/EFE): Brazilian football association communications director Rodrigo Paiva was banned for one game after punching Chilean striker Mauricio Pinilla during halftime of the World Cup Round of 16 match between the two sides Saturday.

FIFA said a number of players engaged in a discussion after the first half leading to Paiva punching Pinilla in the players' tunnel, reports EFE.

FIFA is still investigating the incident and more sanctions could be imposed later. Brazil won 3-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regular and extra time.
