Thank You: Rs 12 lac in 10 days - Three orphans find new hope

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi/Mangalore

Udupi / Mangalore, Jun 11: Until the last week of May, three orphan siblings from Thottam faced an uncertain future due to the untimely death of their parents, and with the house they live in mortgaged to the bank. Moved by their plight, Rocky Almeida from Thottam parish took the initiative to put forward an appeal in front of Daijiworld readers worldwide, hoping some miracle would happen in the lives of the youngsters.

The appeal was published on daijiworld on May 28 explaining the sad story of Flevina Varghese (18), a student of commerce in Milagres College, Melvin Varghese (16) who attends pre-university college, and the youngest, Florina Varghese (9), a student of fourth standard. They first lost their mother to cancer which was detected during her third pregnancy, and later their father committed suicide due to financial burden of taking loan for house, which he could not pay back.

Unitl June 7 the joint account of the children received approximately Rs 12 lac, as per the copy of passbook provided to daijiworld office in Mangalore. Over 100 individuals have contributed to the cause from India as well as from across the world. 'One family-one community-one world' - this slogan is most suited for the readers of daijiworld in such a philanthropic case, as, in the list of donors, one can see names from every religion or caste of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, and also from other parts of the world.

The parish priest of St Anne's Church Thottam, who sent a recommendation letter to daijiworld to support the children is overwhelmed with the response from the people. In a letter to daijiword he thanked everyone who supported the cause, and said that this financial help will give a new life and secure future to the children. 'May God bless the donors and generous persons of goodwill hundred fold for their contribution for this noble cause,' he wrote.

Flevina, the eldest of the three, in a letter to daijiworld on behalf of her siblings, said, "We will remember and pray throughout our lives for everyone who helped us. Never imagined we would come out of this trauma. Losing our parents was the biggest shock for us, but now at least we feel some kind of assurance thanks to the help we have received. After settling the loan, we will keep the remaining amount secure in the bank in the names of all three of us, and use it for our future"

We at daijiworld, thank our readers once again, for keeping faith in us, responding so generously to our appeal, and reaching out directly to the family. Hats off to you!

Good job but the underlying point is missed.

Why do people need to die for help to be given and why do people come to help after someone dies?

I know it is a huge task but there could be a way out financially if Daijiworld readers can put their minds to it.

Now the children have the money but no proper guidance to use the money.

Please ponder over the point I| am making .

    God Bless us all.

That is wonderful. Sharing with the less privileged gives a person the divine joy & peace which cannot be purchased with money or muscle power. I am sure all the generous donor will see the hand of GOD upon them and their families and thus rewarded not only in this temporary life on earth but in the heavenly kingdom of GOD as well.
