Former FIFA chief recovering from respiratory problem


Rio de Janeiro, June 7 (IANS): Former FIFA president Joao Havelange was treated for a respiratory infection and is now in stable condition in Samaritano Hospital here.

The hospital said Friday the 98-year-old Brazilian was admitted Wednesday without giving more details, reports Xinhua.

Havelange was in charge of football's world governing body from 1974-1998, and was replaced by current president Sepp Blatter.
